WIELOPAK TOFFI - new idea from TOFFIFEST starts 13 April 2007.
Toruń and Bydgoszcz are Polish historical towns of Medieval origins. They are also the capitals of Kujawy and Pomorze region in the northern Poland. Both towns, competing with each other for ages, are now successfully fighting for the status of strong centre of European culture, and are now living cultural centres of great significance. The most important film event in both towns is TOFFIFEST - International Film Festival, which promotes independent cinema and young film of the world. It is due to TOFFIFEST that the idea has been born - the idea of festival presenting works of artists who come from this region of Europe.
WIELOPAK TOFFI - films from Toruń and Bydgoszcz
Almost 60 films, animations and experiments made by artists connected with Toruń and Bydgoszcz is going to be screened suring the WIELOPAK TOFFI Festival. Made and branded by TOFFIFEST initiative is showing, for the first time,
the full achivement of people who come from those two towns. It is also the first festival panorama of the cinema made by filmmakers connected with one specific region in Poland.
Artists who come from Toruń and Bydgoszcz are well-known figures of European cinema - e.g. Jerzy Hoffman [nomination for an Oscar for "Potop"], Bogusław Linda [appreciated actor of Krzysztof Kieślowski´s and Polish school of "Cinema of Moral Anxiety"]
or the wave of young filmmakers who are being awarded on the festivals from Slamdance to TOFFI. WIELOPAK presents the best, independent films made by young filmmakers connected with those two towns. We are going to screen not only the films which have been awarded in Paris and Toruń, but also a selection of yet unknown independent productions, students´ etudes, animations, experiments, and video clips.

And one should notice that both towns have their reasons to be proud. There is no need to tell the specialists about such filmmakers as Maciej Cuske, Marcin Sauter, Łukasz Karwowski, Rafał Kapeliński and Tomasz Szafrański or about the rising star, nominated for the German film awards Anna Antonowicz and an excellent young actor Piotr
Głowacki. It is due to connected with Toruń Marek Żydowicz that the CAMERIMAGE Festival exists. And today the region is proudly represented by TOFFIFEST - which means TOFFI International Film Festival.
